WE'LL OPEN UP FOR WELLS FARGO IN MY, THE SAN ANTONIO, RIO GRANDE VALLEY LOREDO MARKETS. SO I ENSURE THAT WE ARE SUPPORTING THOSE NONPROFITS THAT SUPPORT OUR FOCUS AREAS OF HOUSING, AFFORDABILITY, FINANCIAL HEALTH, SUSTAINABILITY, AND I JUST MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE ACTIVE AND ENGAGED IN THE COMMUNITY. THANK YOU BEHALF. UM, I AM THE SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AT MY RIDGE GLOBAL, UH, FOCUSED ON OUR ADVANCED THERAPIES, UH, SECTOR. I WAS FOUNDING EXECUTIVE TOUR GENDER, WHICH IS OUR BIO MANUFACTURING, UH, FACILITY FOR THE, THE TENANT, THE HANG TENANT, UH, FOR PHILOSOPHY TEXAS. AND WE'VE BEEN BUILDING THAT OUT, UM, OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS OF WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY TO, UH, ON TRAINING AND RECRUITING, UH, TALENT WITHIN THE, UH, COMMUNITY. AND, UM, RATHER, SO WE REPRESENT SOUTH TEXAS, WILLIAM TISSUE , WHICH IS A TESTING LAB. AND IN MY CURRENT ROLE, THANK, GOOD AFTERNOON. I'M MARY BATCH. I'M THE CONSULTANT. UH, RECENTLY, UH, TOYOTA, THE SAME TYPE OF WORK. UM, THE ENDEAVORS THAT I'VE DONE HAS BEEN REALLY BEEN WORKFORCE FOCUS AND EDUCATION AND REALLY LOOKING AT BRINGING THOSE INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE BELOW THEIR PROPERTY FUND AND BRINGING LOVE TO WHERE THEY HAVE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON OUR ECONOMY AND THEY MAKE CHANGING LIVES. SO THAT'S WHAT I'M ALL ABOUT. I'M VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT IT. AND DAVID, I'M THE PRESIDENT OF SCORPIO FILE MANUFACTURING ON EAST HOUSTON STREET. I'M A FORMER MILITARY OFFICER. WE'VE BEEN IN FILE NOW FOR, FOR, FOR, UH, THE LAST TWO YEARS, UH, STARTING WITH EIGHT EMPLOYEES. WE'LL BE AT 80 . UM, WE'RE CURRENTLY WORKING WITH, UM, UH, UTS A, UH, TEXAS A M UH, CASE STATE UNIVERSITY AT MANHATTAN COLLEGES, BRINGING IN AN ONBOARDING, A PILOT PROCESSING AND FILE MANUFACTURING COURSE. TALKED WITH THE REGENTS AT K STATE. THEY'RE ACTUALLY GOING TO MITIGATE A FOUR YEAR MINOR AND, UH, RE-CERTIFICATION AS WELL AS THE, AT THE, UH, TECHNICAL COLLEGE LEVEL. WE'RE WORKING ON ACTUALLY ASSOCIATES DEGREE IN BIO MANUFACTURERS AS WELL. UM, ADDITIONALLY WE'VE WORKED WITH, UH, FOR RILEY, UH, FOR, HAD TRANSITIONED WITH SOLDIERS INTO ADVANCED BIO MANUFACTURING. AND, UM, WE ALSO ARE, UH, VERY ACTIVE INTO THE COMMUNITY. WE HAVE SIX TO EIGHT, UM, INTERNSHIPS EVERY YEAR AT, UH, AS SCORPIUS WHERE WE TAKE IN, UM, COLLEGE STUDENTS THAT ARE EITHER ENTERING THEIR JUNIOR OR SENIOR YEAR IN COLLEGE. AND WE HAVE EIGHT WEEKS HANDSON INTERNSHIPS IN FIVE MANUFACTURING PEOPLE, MICRO AND MAMMALIAN, AS WELL AS WE ALSO DO, UH, GLP GCP ANALYTICAL TESTS THERE FOR ALL THE CLINIC CLINICAL SAMPLES AS WELL. SO WE HAVE A WIDE RANGE OF, UH, INTERNSHIPS THAT ARE AVAILABLE FOR, UH, COMMUNITY MEMBERS AS WELL AS OUR ONGOING, UH, INITIATION OR INITIATIVES IN OUR TRAINING AND COURSEWORK DEVELOPMENT. HELLO? EXCUSE ME. HELLO EVERYBODY. UM, MY NAME JM, UH, THE MARKET EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT FOR DOCUMENTATION. WE ARE A LOCAL TECHNOLOGY TEXAS SPACE COMPANY, ACTUALLY HERE IN SAN ANTONIO. AND, UH, WE, UH, SERVE CROSS TEXAS, AS I MENTIONED, TERMS OF TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS SO THAT THEY SET A LOT OF OUR CLIENTS IN, IN THE WORKFORCE, BROWN, OURSELVES INCLUDED. UM, AND HOW WE SUPPORT, ESPECIALLY REGIONALLY ACROSS ALL THE DIFFERENT AREAS [00:10:01] OF SAN ANTONIO, PLEASANT HILL COUNTRY AND AROUND THIS AREA. DO WE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ON YES, I WOULD ASK EACH OF YOU, WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE ON THE BOARD? I'LL START SINCE I HAVE THE MIC. UM, SO THIS IS, UH, A REAPPOINTMENT FOR MYSELF. UH, I WAS HERE LAST YEAR, LUCKY FOR ME THAT I WAS, UH, ON THE LAST YEAR, THREE YEAR TERM, BUT ANOTHER, UH, INDIVIDUAL SO THAT HE SAID, UM, I'M DEFINITELY NOT WANTING TO, UH, LEAVE AFTER A YEAR THERE, BE PROSPEROUS FOR SOMEBODY TO COME AND GO THAT QUICKLY. THAT BEING SAID, UM, AS MENTIONED LAST YEAR, AND I STILL FEEL THE SAME WAY. THE CARE THAT NOT ONLY DOCUMENTATION HAS, BUT I HAVE THIS COMMUNITY, UH, IS THE REASON WHY I'M HERE. UH, THE REASON WHY WE STAY COMMITTED TO SAN ANTONIO AND THE REGION THAT WE'RE IN HERE IN TEXAS IS CAUSE WE BELIEVE IN THIS COMMUNITY AND WE WANNA SEE IT PROSPER. SO THAT BEING SAID, UM, I HAVE THE BEST INTEREST AS I'VE HAD AT THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS HERE ON A PERSONAL LEVEL TO SEE THAT PEOPLE HAVE EQUITY, UH, AND, AND INCLUSION AND OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL PEOPLE TO GET THE SAME OPPORTUNITIES. I THINK THAT SAME PER, AND THE REGIONS AROUND HERE DEFINITELY WANNA SEE OPPORTUNITIES FOR A LOT OF FOLKS TO BE ABLE TO BE AFFORDED, UH, THE JOBS THAT THE AMAZING COMPANIES THAT WE HAD AROUND THIS AREA. UM, TWOFOLD. UM, ONE IS SELFISH AND BIO MANUFACTURING IS INCREDIBLY GROWING INDUSTRY AND, UH, THE WORKFORCE IS, UH, VERY DIFFICULT ONLINE. UM, HENCE OUR ISSUES TO, UM, UH, THE, THE TRAINING AT WORKFORCE, AT, UH, THE, UH, TECHNICAL COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY LEVELS AS WELL AS, UH, I WAS A NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENT MYSELF GOING INTO THE MILITARY AND THEN DOING MY TIME AND THEN COMING BACK SO I KNOW WHAT THE DIFFICULTIES COULD BE FOR NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENTS AND ALSO TRANSITIONING MILITARY. I JUST THINK IT'S A, A VERY IMPORTANT THING TO DO IS TO, YOU KNOW, GIVE THE PEOPLE THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT MAY NOT, NOT THE OPPORTUNITIES COMING STRAIGHT UP SCHOOL TO GET INTO A FIELD THAT THEY NOT MAKE A GOOD LIVING AT CAN BE THE FANTASTIC CAREER OR REWARDING EXPERIENCE. I AM ACTUALLY COMING IN FROM REAPPOINTMENT. I HAVE BEEN SERVING ON THE BOARD FOR A FEW YEARS NOW. I'M ALSO CURRENTLY THE VICE CHAIR OF THE BOARD. I'M VERY ACTIVE IN THE BOARD ACTIVITIES AND ALSO GETTING OUT THE COMMUNITY AND DOING, DISCUSSING OUR NEEDS AND HOW WE CAN GET TOGETHER, BURN TOGETHER AS A PARTNERSHIP AND NOT TRYING TO DO BIG SOLO. UM, THE BIGGEST REASON FOR ME TO BE ON THE BOARD IS REALLY FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO ADVISE AND ADVOCATE AND, UM, YOU KNOW, REALLY PROMOTE THE BOARD AND THE SERVICES THAT I HAVE WITHIN HOW WE CAN ACTUALLY MARRY THAT WITHIN OUR COMMUNITIES AND ENSURING THAT, UM, WE'RE PROVIDING ALL OF OUR CITIZENS WITH THE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES TO BE ABLE TO HAVE GOOD PAYING JOBS WITH GOOD WAGES. AND IN ADDITION TO THAT, PART OF THE, UH, TEXAS FEDERATION IN ADVANCED MANUFACTURING OF EDUCATION, WHICH WE CALL TEXAS FAME. SO I SIT ON THE BOARD BOARDS, THE ALAMO CHAPTER AND LONESTAR CHAPTER, WHICH WE'RE STARTING UP IN THE, UH, NEW BRAMBLES, THE SHIRTS AREA. THAT'S WHERE, WHERE I'VE BEEN WORKING HERE FOR US FOUR OR FIVE MONTHS IN THAT AREA, VERY HEAVILY TO, TO WORK ON THAT. SO, UM, VERY, VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT THESE EDUCATIONS AND BEING ABLE TO GIVE, UM, OUR FUTURE GENERATION OF THOSE OPPORTUNITIES TO BE ABLE TO TAKE THE LIFE OF US THAT ARE THE SILVER TUNA ARE IN THE WORKFORCE, AND BEING ABLE TO GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE ABLE TO LEARN THESE SKILLS AND, AND THE COMPETENCIES THAT THEY NEED TO HAVE IN ORDER TO GET, BE ABLE TO TAKE OVER AND BE VERY STRONG WORKFORCE. SO, UM, I'M A LIFE SCIENCE EXECUTIVE. I'VE BEEN IN THIS SPACE FOR 30 YEARS. I'M ALSO AN ARMY WIFE, AND I CAME TO SAN ANTONIO 13 YEARS AGO AND WAS LOOKING FOR A . UM, I ENGAGED WITH UTSA AND STARTED WORKING WITH SOME OF THEIR, UH, ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMS AND FANTASTIC GROUPS OF STUDENTS WHO DID GREAT WORK AND THEN LEFT THE COMMUNITY TO GO ELSEWHERE. FAST FORWARD A FEW YEARS LATER, UM, I'M ON THE EAST SIDE FAMILY OF BUSINESS AND SEEING OPPORTUNITIES FOR A WORKFORCE THAT, UM, MUCH LIKE DAVID SAID, DOESN'T HAVE TO [00:15:01] GO THROUGH A TRADITIONAL, UM, EDUCATIONAL PATH, NEEDS A, AN APPLIED TRAINING PATH AND CAN HAVE A, A VERY GOOD PAYING JOB AND A CAREER TRAJECTORY THAT CAN CARRY THEM FOR A LONG TIME. THE THIRD PIECE IS LOOKING AT WHERE MY EMPLOYER SITS BY RIDGE GLOBAL IS A NON COMMUNITY NONPROFIT FOCUSED ON SAVING AND ENHANCING LIVES TO THE HEALING POWER OF HUMAN CELLS AND ISSUES. AND THE WORK THAT WE DO SPANS HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES UP TO PHD LEVEL SCIENTISTS. I'VE SEEN MY INVOLVEMENT HERE AS A WAY TO BRING SOME OF, OF, SOME, SOME, BRING SOME OPPORTUNITIES TO THE COMMUNITY FOR REALLY GOOD GAME JOBS, EXPAND THE LIFE SCIENCE SECTOR AND, UH, AND RETAIN SOME OF THE TALENTS THAT WE ALREADY HAVE HERE. GROW TALENT AND RETAIN TALENT SO WE DON'T HAVE TO FIGHT WITH THEM. EXACTLY. DAVID, LET'S WORK TOGETHER, HAVE A STRONG INTEREST IN PARTICIPATING IN THIS BOARD BECAUSE IT ALLOWS ME TO REALLY RECONNECT TO WHERE I BEGAN MY CAREER WITH THE CITY OF SAN ANTONIO. I STARTED OFF, UM, IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN 2006 AND, AND WORKFORCE WAS ONE OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES I HAVE AND REALLY GOT TO BE IN THE WAYS OF THAT AND CONNECT WITH PARTNERS. I MEAN, PART OF MY RESPONSIBILITY WAS WHILE WE WERE TRYING TO ATTRACT COMPANIES HERE AND MAKING SURE OUR RESIDENTS WERE, YOU KNOW, HAVE THE SKILLS AND THE EXPERIENCE AND READY TO GET THOSE JOBS. I MEAN, IT JUST, I LOVE THAT. I LOVE, I LOVE THE WORK OF, OF REALLY HELPING OUR RESIDENTS. WE KNOW, UM, WE'RE NOT LIKE SILOS OUR OWN ISLAND. WE ARE ALL CONNECTED. WE ARE NOT, WE ARE ALL CONNECTED. SO WE DEFINITELY ALWAYS WANNA MAKE SURE THAT THE SUPPORT IS THERE. AND THEN ALSO, YOU KNOW, DURING THE, THE PANDEMIC, UM, YOU KNOW, IEN AND HIS TEAM ARE MAN SURE PEOPLE, YOU KNOW, HAD JOBS TO CONNECT TO. I WAS ON THE OTHER END OF MAKING SURE THAT PEOPLE STAYED HOUSE. I COURSE SAW THE PEOPLE WRITTEN ALL THE MORGAN ASSISTANCE APPLICATIONS AND THROUGH THOSE CONVERSATIONS CONSTANTLY COMING UP, OKAY, GE YOU NEED TO BE CONNECTED TO, YOU KNOW, SOME WORKFORCE HELP, YOU KNOW, HOW WILL WE HELP YOU, YOU KNOW, BRIDGE THAT, YOU KNOW, THAT GAP BECAUSE IF WE'RE HELPING YOU WITH THE GRIZZLE ASSISTANCE, BUT WE ALSO WANTED TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE EMPLOYMENT, SO YOU HAVE KIND OF SEEN ALL FACETS OF IT. AND SO I THINK BEING ON THE BOARD ALLOWS ME TO BE BACK AND BE ENGAGED IN THAT WORK. UM, HELPS SHY AWAY FROM ANYTHING THAT'S HARD. AND THE WORKFORCE IS HARD. I MEAN, YOU'RE, YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT BEHAVIOR, BEHAVIOR, YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT PEOPLE'S, YOU KNOW, LEARNED EXPERIENCES IN ALL THESE FACTORS THAT WE'RE WORKING UP AGAINST TO CONNECT PEOPLE. AND SO, UM, I SEEM TO LIKE THAT THRIVE IN THAT I'M, I'M COLLABORATIVE. AND SO, UM, I I THINK IT WOULD JUST BE A GOOD FIT IN THAT I FEEL LIKE THEY COULD BRING A LOT OF BENEFIT BASED ON MY BACKGROUND, BUT ALSO, AGAIN, LIKE I SAID, REALLY HAVE THE BEST INTEREST IN CONNECTING WITH RESIDENTS AND MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE HELPING THEM BEHOLD IN, IN THEIR LIVES. THANK YOU. ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FOR THE BOARD THAT WE'RE GONNA MOVE ON TO THE NEXT POSITION? THANK YOU SO MUCH. UM, I WANNA ASK THE, THE NOMINATION FOR THE PUBLIC SECTOR SECTOR AND EDUCATION TO COME FORWARD, PLEASE, FOR COMMUNITY BASED TODAY IS JUST INTERVIEWS, BUT NO CHOICES. SO CAN YOU US THE BEGINNING, WE ARE TRYING TO MOVE THIS, UH, MEETING BOARD QUICKLY BECAUSE OUR, UM, CITY COUNCIL COLLEAGUES HAVE TO LEAVE AND ONCE THEY LEAVE WE DON'T HAVE A FORUM, SO WE NEED TO GET THROUGH THIS AND VOTE. THANK YOU LADIES, IF YOU CAN INTRODUCE YOURSELVES AND SAY WHY YOU WANT THIS POSITION. HELLO, MY NAME'S ELIZABETH. I'M THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR THE HEALTH COLLABORATIVE AND BEEN SERVING ON THE BOARD FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS NOW. AND IT'S BEEN, UM, HONORED TO BE NOMINATED TO CONTINUE TO SERVE. UM, THE HEALTH ORGANIZATION NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION IS FOCUSING ON COMMUNITY CARE, UM, ACCESS TO CARE, BOTH SOCIAL AND CLINICAL SERVICES. AND WE DEPEND ON RESOURCES OF A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS TO HELP US DO THAT WORK, INCLUDING, UM, GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATIONS, ORGANIZATIONS, ASSIST SYSTEMS LEADERS TO HELP US DO THAT. THANK YOU. MY NAME IS SANDY. I SERVE WITH THE ASSOCIATE VICE CANCER OF OPERATIONS WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND ALAMO COLLEGES. THE TITLE I WILL COME UP WITH ACRONYM AT SOME POINT. UH, OUR JOB, OUR MISSION WITHIN OUR DISTRICT IS TO DELIVER TALENT SOLUTIONS. HOW WE DO THAT IS TO THREE STRANDS OF, UM, WORK, UM, OUR PORTFOLIO OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT RELY ON DEVELOPING OR BUILDING TALENT, GETTING [00:20:01] ACCESS TO TALENT FOR OUR EMPLOYER PARTNERS, SKILLING TALENT, UM, WITH OUR EMPLOYER PARTNERS AS WELL. WE DO THAT THROUGH A PORTFOLIO OF BRAND PROGRAMS. SO I ALSO, UH, MANAGE AND OVERSEE A PORTFOLIO THAT INCLUDES THE READY TO WORK PROGRAM INCLUDES TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION, A NUMBER OF TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION GRANTS TO INCLUDE ADULT EDUCATION AND LITERACY SKILLS, DEVELOPMENT FUNDS, SKILLS FROM SMALL BUSINESS AND EMPLOYER ENGAGEMENT GRANT. CURRENTLY, UH, WE ALSO ALSO OVERSEE SEVEN EDUCATION TRAINING CENTERS THROUGHOUT SAN ANTONIO ON THE REGION. FIVE WITHIN SAN ANTONIO, ONE IN KEVILLE, ONE IN NEW BROWNSVILLE. WE'RE BUILDING TWO NEW ONES RIGHT NOW. SOUTHSIDE EDUCATION AND TRAINING CENTER, AND THEN ONE TO COME ON THE I 10 AREA. SO WE HAVE A NEW FACILITY AT OUR WESTSIDE EDUCATION TRAINING CENTER, TWO THAT DOUBLE THE SQUARE FOOTAGE AND IS IN THE HEART OF OUR COMMUNITY. THERE WAS US AN AIR FORCE CIVILIAN, UM, SERVANT SERVANT FOR 16 YEARS BUILDING AND DELIVERING TALENT SOLUTIONS FOR OUR CAREER FIELDS WITHIN THE AIR FORCE. THANK YOU. YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR THE FLOOR? ALL RIGHT, THANK YOU LADIES. SO AT THIS TIME IN CONSULTATION WITH OUR ATTORNEY, FRANK BERNIE, I'M GONNA REQUEST THAT WE GO INTO EXEC EXECUTIVE SESSION PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 5 51 OF THE TEXAS OPEN MEETINGS ACT. THE COMMITTEE MAY MOVE INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION FOR DISCUSSION ON ANY ISSUE FOR WHICH THERE'S AN EXCEPTION TO THE ACT AS SET OUT IN SECTION 5 51. UM, WE ARE SESSION AT 1258 AND NO, 1257 AND NO ACTION WAS TAKEN DURING EXECUTIVE SESSION. UM, SO AT THIS TIME I'D LIKE TO, UM, OPEN UP TO THE FLOOR FOR NOMINATIONS FOR A MOTION FOR, UM, THE PRIVATE SECTOR. I'D LIKE TO MAKE A MOTION TO NOMINATE MARY BATCH BECKY BUTLER CAP AND DAVID HALVERSON. SAY THAT AGAIN? UH, MARY BATCH, BECKY BUTLER CAP AND DAVID HALVERSON. SECOND, SECOND, SECOND. LEFT THAT ONE OFF. SECOND. THERE WAS A SECOND. THERE WAS A SECOND. EVERYTHING. WHO, I'M SORRY. WHO SECONDED IT? WHO WAS ME? COULD I ASK YOU A QUESTION? SURE, SURE. THE, THE OTHER APPLICANTS, ARE WE GONNA THEM IN THE WINGS TO BE CONSIDERED IF WE HAVE VACANCY? I'M SORRY. COULDN'T HEAR YOU, JUDGE. ARE WE GONNA, THE OTHER TWO ADVOCATES, ARE WE GONNA APPROVE THEM AS BEING CONTINGENTLY APPROVED? THAT'S CERTAINLY AT YOUR DISCRETION. YOU CAN, YOU CAN MAKE A MOTION AFTER WE TAKE THIS MOTION UP. IF YOU WANNA PUT THE, IN THE BULL PEN, WE CAN DO THAT. IF THAT MOTION WAS INCLUDED, IS THAT IT WASN'T INCLUDED, I CAN AMEND IT OR WE COULD TAKE IT UP AS A SECOND. YOU CAN TAKE IT. JUST TAKE A, IF YOU WANNA RESTATE YOUR MOTION AND INCLUDE IT, THAT'S FINE. SURE. I WILL, I WILL RESTATE MY MOTION TO INCLUDE, UH, THE, UH, NOMINATION OF MARY BATCH, DAVID HALON AND BECKY BUTLER CAP FOR THE THREE OPEN POSITIONS AS WELL AS ROBBIE BROWN. AND, UM, I APOLOGIZE, BARBARA, UH, BUFORD AS, UM, ALTERNATES, IF YOU WILL, AVAILABLE FOR A PLACEMENT ON AN OPEN SEAT. YOU ACCEPTED? YEAH, I ACCEPTED. SORRY. OKAY. DO WE HAVE A VOTE? LINDA, YOU WANNA CALL THE ROLL LETTER OR JUST DO IT? I SHOW OF HANDS. IS ANYBODY AGAINST IT? RAISE YOUR HAND. HOW ABOUT FOUR FIRST US? ALL THOSE FAVOR SAY AYE. AYE. AYE. AYE. THOSE AND POLLS? NO. NO. OKAY. S UNANIM. OKAY, SO I'LL HAVE A SECOND MO, IS THERE A SECOND MOTION FROM THE FLOOR? CAN WE GO OVER WHO THAT WAS SO WE WON'T BE CONFUSED? SO MARY, DAVID AND BECKY. YOU OKAY? SAY IT AGAIN. THAT WAS MARY, DAVID AND BECKY. JUST MARY. DAVID, BECKY. AND THE OTHER TWO WOULD BE ALTERNATE? YES. YES. OKAY. DO WE HAVE ANOTHER MOTION FROM THE FLOOR CHAIR? I'LL MAKE THE MOTION. UH, I'D LIKE TO NOMINATE BARBARA ANMA BUFORD, BECKY BUTLER, KAT AND MARY BATCH WITH SECONDARIES BEING DAVID HALVERSON AND RAVI BROWN. I'LL SECOND IT. OKAY. WE HAVE A MOTION. WE HAVE A SECOND. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE. AYE. AYE. AYE. ALL THE POLLS SAY NO, NO, NO. OKAY. CAN I MAKE A COMMENT? [00:25:02] CHAIRMAN, I, THIS IS ALWAYS A DIFFICULT SITUATION FOR US TO GO THROUGH NOMINEES. UM, WE WILL STATED IN CLOSED SESSION, NOT GONNA TALK IN GREAT DETAIL, BUT THAT ALL APPLICANTS ARE, ARE QUALIFIED AND WOULD BE ABLE TO SERVE AND DO A GOOD JOB. MY COMMENT, UM, BARBARA, OF NOTHING AGAINST YOU. I, I DON'T KNOW ANY OF THE APPLICANTS. I FEEL LIKE A PRIVATE SECTOR REPRESENTATIVE SHOULD HAVE AN EXTENSIVE BACKGROUND IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR. UM, A LOT OF BARBARA'S EXPERIENCED CITY OF SAN ANTONIO, WHICH IS A GREAT AMOUNT OF KNOWLEDGE AND WEALTH AND, UM, YOU KNOW, ALL THESE CONTACTS AND ALL THIS STUFF. BUT BEING WITH WELLS FARGO FOR JUST A YEAR MAYBE DOESN'T HAVE THAT SAME PRIVATE SECTOR PERSPECTIVE INVOLVEMENT THAT SOME OF THE OTHER, UM, APPLICANTS DID. THAT'S WHY I'M VOTING THIS WAY. IT'S NOTHING AGAINST BARBARA. I THINK SHE WOULD BE WELL COMMITTED, UM, BE VERY INVOLVED AND ENGAGED AND DO A GOOD JOB. UM, I JUST THINK THAT WE'VE GOT A LOT OF REPRESENTATION FROM THE PUBLIC SIDE ALREADY AND WITH A LOT OF YOUR EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE BEING FROM THE CITY OF SAN ANTONIO, WHICH ISN'T A BAD THING, KIND OF DOUBLES UP ON THAT, THAT PERSPECTIVE AND INVOLVEMENT. I THINK THE OTHER APPLICANTS HAVING A, UM, EXTENSIVE BACKGROUND FROM THE PRIVATE SECTOR. WE NEED THAT TYPE OF INVOLVEMENT, THAT, UH, PARTICIPATION AND DIRECTION FROM BUSINESSES AND HOW, UM, WE CAN BETTER SERVE THE COMMUNITY FROM THAT ANGLE. UM, THAT'S WHY I'M SAYING WHAT I'M SAYING. UM, OTHERS HAD KIND OF A DIFFERING OPINION. THAT'S WHAT'S GREAT ABOUT A BOARD. HOPEFULLY WE'LL GET CONVERSATION AND MAYBE ANOTHER NOMINATION TO MOVE FORWARD. ONE TO EXPLAIN MY POSITION AND WHY I WAS VOTING AGAINST THAT. THANK YOU SO MUCH, ALL OF YOU FOR, FOR, UH, WANTING TO BE INVOLVED. OKAY. SO WE'RE GONNA, UM, START INSTEAD OF DOING A SLATE AND WE'LL GO WITH ONE BY ONE. SO CAN I HAVE NOMINATIONS FOR, UH, PLACE ONE FOR THE PRIVATE SECTOR? I NOMINATE. OH, KARA, I'D LIKE TO NOMINATE MARY BATCH. DO I HAVE A SECOND FOR MARY SECOND? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE. AYE. AYE. AYE. ALL. ANY OPPOSED? OKAY. SO AT LEAST WE HAVE MARY DO THE NEXT ONE. ALL RIGHT. UM, I WANNA TAKE A MOTION FOR THE FLOOR FOR THE SECOND PLACE FOR PRIVATE SECTOR THREE. FOR PLACE THREE. CHAIR. I'D LIKE TO NOMINATE BECKY, UH, BUTLER. OKAY. DO I HAVE A SECOND FOR BECKY? SECOND. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE. AYE. AYE. ANY OPPOSED? OKAY, SO WE HAVE BECKY, UM, I'D LIKE TO TAKE A MOTION FROM THE PRIVATE SEC FOR THE PRIVATE SECTOR FOR PLACE 12. UPDATE, DAVID, ALISON, SECOND. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE. AYE. AYE. OPPOSED? THREE. OKAY. THAT WAS MY ORIGINATION. ALRIGHT. I WOULD ALSO MOVE THAT THE OTHER TWO THAT HAVE APPLIED, THAT WE, THAT WE DO APPROVE THOSE TO BE CONTINGENT. UH, AVAILABILITY, IF YOU CAN MAKE IT A MOTION FOR THE SECOND TWO TO BE. THAT'S WHAT I, I'LL SECOND. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? AYE. AYE. AYE. JUST TO CLARIFY, MADAM CHAIR, IS THERE AN ORDER BETWEEN THOSE, THE TWO REMAINING? I DON'T CARE. I, I THINK IT WOULD BE BENEFICIAL FOR US TO UNDERSTAND IF THERE IS AN OPENING. WHO WOULD BE THE FIRST, UH, ROBBIE BROWN ONE. MS. BUFORD? TWO. MOTION. SECOND. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? AYE. AYE. COMMUNITY EDUCATION. YES. NOMINATE. SURE. UM, SINCE WE DON'T HAVE ANYONE OPPOSING THE TWO POSITIONS FOR COMMUNITY BASED AND EDUCATION, CAN I GET A OPEN FROM THE FLOOR? I NOMINATE THAT WE, UH, APPOINT DR. SAMMY MORROW AND OH GOODNESS. ELIZABETH. ELIZABETH. DR. DR. I'M SORRY. I DIDN'T HAVE AYE, AYE. ANY THANK YOU. HOLD ON. SORRY. DO WE NEED ANY MORE VOTES ON ANYTHING? OKAY, SO NOW WE'RE JUST DOING BRIEFING. YOU CAN DO BREAKING, BUT CHECK, ADJOURN. YOU CAN TALK. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE IT, YOU CAN, BUT [00:30:01] SO THE MEETING IS THE MEETING'S ADJOURNED? CAUSE WE DON'T HAVE TO GO THROUGH. HUH? SO I WOULD ASK, WHY CAN'T WE HAVE A MEETING AND GET THROUGH WITH IT? WE COME DOWN HERE, WE DRIVE, WE WAIT, CANCEL. CAUSE SOMEBODY HAS TO TEACH SOMETHING. WE HAVE TO END IT BECAUSE THERE'S SOMETHING ELSE GOING ON. CAN'T WE COMMIT TO DO THIS JOB WITH HOW MANY DOLLARS DO WE HAVE TO MANAGE HERE? DOES ANYBODY NOT GIVE A DAMN, I'M SORRY. THIS, THEY THINK WE'RE, WE'RE HERE. I THINK IT'S THE COUNCIL PEOPLE, BUT WE'RE, BUT WE CAN'T DO BUSINESS. I MEAN, IT'S, IT'S CRAZY. BUT THERE WASN'T ANY MORE BUSINESS RIGHT THERE. APPRECIATE VISITS ON THE AGENDA. THERE'S, UM, BRIEFINGS. POSSIBLE ACTION. NO, THIS SAYS POSSIBLE ACTION. POSSIBLE ACTION. FRANK. MM-HMM. . NO. YOU CAN'T TAKE ANY BOTH BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE FORM COPY. YOU DON'T HAVE ANY OVER. IF THEY WANTED TO HAVE A BRIEFING ON THE LOCAL PLAN, EVERYTHING ELSE YOU WANNA HAVE A BRIEFING ON YOU. * This transcript was created by voice-to-text technology.
